Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious trophy on 14 different times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the match between the French league winners and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side struck twice late to seize a surprise lead. First, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital equaliser in the dying seconds to send the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving crucial attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout win.

The record champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the last 13 seasons.
